The stringent rules recently announced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore for due diligence standards attracted mixed reactions from various market commentators.

The new rules codify and provide clear guardrails for corporate finance advisers (“CF advisers”) who are involved in major capital market transactions. The new rules are in line with the high standards of market integrity and conduct vigilantly maintained by Singapore’s regulators.

CF advisers must do their part to uphold high industry standards that underpin the foundation of Singapore’s sterling reputation as an international capital and financial market.
