In summary:
I had an engaging live discussion with veteran award-winning presenter and senior producer at Money FM 89.3, Ms Michelle Martin, this morning.
The topic of our discussion was on shareholders’ rights and privileges when investing in Singapore-listed companies, and what retail investors need to know and do when they receive notifications on a major corporate action.
I fielded questions from Michelle on the following:-
1. Investors’ education – the importance of making informed investment decisions.
2. Corporate actions that materially affect the rights and interests of minority shareholders, such as privatisation and de-listing offers, and interested persons’ transactions.
3. Failure of companies to hold AGMs and refusal by the incumbent Board to convene EGMs requisitioned by shareholders of the company.
I have attached the podcast of my interview with Michelle. Many thanks to Michelle for the lively and thought-provoking chat on Money FM 89.3 this morning.
