s effects of global warming

My post on LinkedIn can be seen here.

In summary:

The deleterious effects of global warming is affecting everyone on Planet Earth. Governments and multi-national corporations must all do their part to lead a sustained global campaign to contain the causative factors that are contributing to the foreseeable destruction of the Ozone layer. It is patently and painfully obvious that the porosity of the Ozone layer is having negative effects on human health and the environment.

In adddition to discharging their moral responsibility to protect the environment, corporations must also conduct their business activities that are socially responsible, and in-sync with the principles of good corporate governance.

Investors, banks and financial institutions, and consumers are increasingly adverse to businesses that continue to be carbon-intensive, and are nonchalant or even obdurate in resisting the need to improve on their ESG performance. The greater evil is when corporations mask their carbon-intensive business activities by green-washing. These companies need to shape up or face the real risk of eventually being sidelined by all and sundry.

I thank the Singapore Business Times (“BT”) for inviting me to contribute an op-ed and be part of a round table discussion on the cardinal issues concerning ESG. See attached articles published by BT on 5th June 2024.
