This morning, I had the privilege of participating in the Charity Governance Conference 2024, representing the Securities Investors Association (Singapore) as the Head of Legal Affairs. SIAS, as the Anchor Partner of the Singapore Charity Council, plays a vital role in organizing this significant annual event, and I am honored to contribute to the effort of strengthening governance practices within the charity sector.
The conference provided a platform for insightful discussions on enhancing transparency, accountability, and effectiveness within charities and non-profit organizations in Singapore. These topics are critical for ensuring that charities operate with the highest levels of integrity and continue to gain public trust.
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to reconnect with Minister Edwin Tong, the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and the Second Minister for Law. It was a pleasure to hear his thoughts on the evolving landscape of the charity sector and the importance of good governance in promoting sustainable growth. His continued support for the sector is truly inspiring, and I look forward to seeing how these initiatives further strengthen the charitable landscape in Singapore.
Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting with many dedicated friends and professionals who are actively serving in and contributing to various charities and non-profit organizations. Their passion and commitment to making a difference in the community are deeply commendable. I am filled with admiration for their selfless dedication, which fuels the growth and impact of these organizations across the island.
