It was an honour to be present at the 41st Singapore Business Awards, jointly organised by The Business Times and DHL, and to witness Old Chang Kee receive the Enterprise Award — a milestone moment for a beloved homegrown brand with seventy years of heritage.
Old Chang Kee holds a special place in my professional journey. I had the privilege of advising the company on its initial public offering in 2007/2008, when it became the first IPO on SGX Catalist in 2008, the Singapore Exchange board for fast-growing enterprises. To see Old Chang Kee continue to thrive as a listed entity and now stand recognised among Singapore’s most outstanding enterprises is deeply gratifying.

Much of that success is owed to the capable leadership of CEO Mr William Lim, whose business acumen has steered the brand through nearly two decades of public-market life. His acceptance speech on the night — generous, candid, and peppered with anecdotal stories from running and growing the business — drew warm applause from the audience. The Old Chang Kee story is, in many ways, a Singapore story: humble beginnings, disciplined execution, and a quiet pride in doing the everyday extraordinarily well.
Congratulations also to the other distinguished honourees of the evening — Ms Jane Sun (Trip.com), Mr Anthony Tan (Grab), Mr Kerry Mok (SATS), and Mr Eric Leong (Mlion) — each a testament to the breadth and ambition of Singapore enterprise today.
